2D to (Civil) 3D - Varsity Views on Civil 3D
Having
spent nearly 7 years as a project and design engineer, I
know how frustrating it can be to produce a plan set.
Constant changes to design, drafting updates, and
coordinating various design teams were just some of the
challenges that prompted me to cross-over to the civil
software world. Armed with a PE license, years of civil
design experience, coursework in software engineering, and a
desire to create tools for engineers, I decided to join
Autodesk (CAiCE earlier) in 2000. In my position at
Autodesk, I have an interesting role now to preach what I
practiced - evangelize the Civil 3D way of doing things! I
visit campuses throughout North America, meet with
Deans/faculty members, offer workshops/seminars on Civil 3D,
develop curriculum, and do whatever it takes to help
universities move to the next level.

Civil 3D Pedagogical model |
